The Solo Razor has been engineered to deliver the quickest and easiest shave on the planet. If you are used to shaving with a cartridge razor, shaving with the Solo Razor should come naturally.
Unlike most plastic-free alternatives, the Solo Razor has a pivoting head so you don't need to learn any technique to get a smooth shave every time.
For shaving nerds: the Solo Razor is designed with a neutral exposure, slightly larger-than-average blade gap, and a huge drainage channel out the back so a one-pass shave should already deliver a solid result. As always, a second pass against the grain will risk more irritation but keep hair at bay for a little longer.
The Solo Razor and Reload have been engineered together to deliver the quickest and easiest blade swaps on the planet.
Insert the key sticking out from the refill pack into the slot in the razor. You should then see the blades in the refill pack ready to be pushed in.
Then, slide the slider on the Reload until a blade from the refill pack is pushed all the way into the Razor. The old blade should be pushed straight out.
If anything isn't working as you expect it to, contact us so we can resolve it for you.
Everyone's hair is different, and we all have a different amount of hair being shaved. However, it is important to remember that the blade starts corroding from the first time it is used due to the moisture, salt, and other contaminants gradually affecting the blade edge.
Therefore, you should avoid shaving with a blade that has gone more than 1 month since its first shave.
For regular shavers, the blade edge also wears down with each shave. A rule of thumb is that you should change blades every 5 to 7 shaves to keep the shave fresh and irritation-free.
Our blades contain no plastic and are only steel. If you have a blade tin, you should be able to let the old blades drop straight into it without touching it.
If you do not have a blade tin, you can use an old tin (like a bean tin) as an old blade storage, which should be able to be filled up for years of shaving.
The old blades, safely contained in a metal container, can then be recycled as scrap metal. Check with your local authority for where the nearest recycling center is.
Dermatology literature consistently shows that multi-blade systems can increase the likelihood of irritation and ingrown hairs, particularly because successive blades cut hair progressively closer to, and in some cases slightly below, the skin surface.
For individuals prone to follicular inflammation or with curly hair types, this can amplify the risk of ingrown hairs as the regrowing hair meets resistance beneath the skin.
With a single blade, the you'll find that the Solo Razor cuts the hair at skin level, thereby reducing the risk of ingrown hairs which lead to razor bumps.
It is always best to shave after a shower, when the hair is softer, and use a good soap and cream. Exfoliating before and/or after you shave can also greatly help, depending on your skin type.
A blade starts to corrode and break down if it is not kept clean and dry. Hence, you should always rinse and shake off your razor after every use (the Solo Razor is engineered to deliver some of the best rinsing on the planet). Then store the razor somewhere dry.
Most razor brands have been offering shower holders, even though razors really shouldn't be stored in the shower. If you do this, the lifetime of the blades may be severely affected.
Rinse and shake off your razor after every use. The Solo Razor is engineered to deliver some of the best rinsing on the planet.
Depending on the kind of soap or cream you use, or the hardness of your water, a film may build up over time. If this happens, you can use an old toothbrush or the like with some soap and warm water to remove.
For deep cleans (which shouldn't be needed too often) the Solo Razor is designed to be maintainable with simple tools. You can carefully disassemble the Razor and clean the inside parts as well if needed.
The parts of the Solo Razor are meant to last a long time, so you can keep enjoying the best shave for the rest of your life.
Our patent-pending Solo Reload lets you change the blade without having to touch it. Each new blade will push out an old blade which can be recycled. Smooth swaps, with zero waste.
